Exploring Birdsong.

Exploring Birdsong.

Rarely are new groups as exciting, talented or unique as Exploring Birdsong.

After meeting at university in Liverpool, Lyns, Jonny & Matt swiftly formed a close friendship and discovered their shared love for both heavy music and the hooky, poppy nature of the 80s. A seemingly unlikely combination sonically, but when glued together by the voice of front woman Lynsey Ward, the band are capable of stirring the strongest emotional reactions imaginable within their idiosyncratic, genre-blending beauty. Also playing keyboards, Lynsey is backed by the jawdropping talents of Matt Harrison on drums, and Jonny Knight on bass/second keyboards. The release of their debut EP ‘The Thing With Feathers’ caught the eyes of key players in the UK Press (Kerrang! Magazine, Kerrang! Radio, Classic Rock Magazine, Rock Sound) and their follow up release, 2023’s ‘Dancing in the Face of Danger’, helped further cement their status as one of the brightest young prospects in alternative music, earning them a tour with Swedish metal giants Katatonia, along with a main stage slot at RADAR Festival, and Euroblast Festival (DE). Following the release of Dancing in the Face of Danger, the band recently released a cover of the Deftones classic 'Diamond Eyes', a standalone single in ‘The Collapse’ - earning them plaudits from Radio One’s Nels Hylton, and a sold out headline show at Downstairs at the Dome, London. The band’s individuality and ability to effortlessly straddle genres brings to mind elements of Kate Bush, The Last Dinner Party, Enter Shikari and Sleep Token (for whom Lynsey has recently been revealed as a backing singer, and who the band have toured with on numerous occasions).
